Your pet’s oral health is directly connected to their overall health. Signs of dental disease include bad breath, loose, broken, or missing teeth, yellow or brown teeth, red, inflamed, or bleeding gums, difficulty or pain when chewing, pawing at the mouth, and excessive drooling. Dental Radiography
We are proud that we have the most up-to-date equipment to treat dental disease, including digital dental x-rays. This allows us to detect if there is any disease beneath the gum line that we would not be able to see otherwise. We are often able to see undetected abscesses, broken teeth, resorbed roots, retained roots, and more, thanks to dental radiographs.
Tooth Extraction And Oral Surgery
In many cases, dental disease in dogs and cats progresses to a point where teeth need to be extracted or treated with advanced dental techniques. The Gentle Vet Animal Hospital offers comprehensive dental surgical services but may also elect to refer to a board-certified veterinary dentist when the circumstances require it.
Tooth Cleaning
Dental hygiene is an important part of your pet’s health because dental disease can be associated with other serious health problems such as heart disease and kidney disease. But how do you know if your pet has a healthy mouth? Let us examine your pet’s teeth and gums to help determine if there are any dental issues you should know about.
After a brief visual examination, we may recommend a more detailed examination (which requires sedation).
Polishing
Oral and dental health is one of the most critical aspects of your pet’s overall health. Annual dental cleanings and polishing are recommended (just like humans) and should start at an early age.
Periodontal Care
Dentistry in veterinary medicine isn’t just about keeping your pet’s teeth white and mouth smelling good. Many of our pets’ suffer in silence from acute/chronic oral pain and systemic bacteria from periodontal disease, tooth fractures, tooth resorption, and many other oral conditions.
It is our team’s goal to help you identify, stop, and prevent the pain and systemic side effects from these conditions for your pet.
Safety
We don’t cut corners by treating dentistry differently than any other surgery. Just like our other anesthetized procedures, we have a dedicated CVT whose only job is to deliver and monitor anesthesia.
All the equipment we use for the most involved surgeries is used on every dentistry procedure, no exceptions! This sets us apart from others.
